(Unmoderated) Usability Study | Cashflow Forecast - Dynamics 365 Finance (Microsoft)

Product: The cash flow forecasting functionality in Dynamics 365 Finance empowers organizations to transform tedious, complex, yet repetitive cash flow projection to a simple, automated process. Automating the most tedious aspects of cash flow forecasting lets users focus on critical decision making to drive desired business outcomes.

Methodology: A usability study was performed on the Cashflow Forecast preview in Dynamics 365 Finance in July 2020. 6 Finance professionals who work in cash management completed a series of tasks and scored their overall experience.

Results + Impact: Most UX KPI objectives (CSAT, SUS, WOW/ 5MTW) were met and design recommendations were implemented to address discovered usability issues. Star feature in 2020 Dynamics general availability release as satisfactory study results allowed engineering to build tested design prototype.

(Moderated) AI Trust Study | Customer Payment Predictions - Dynamics 365 Finance (Microsoft)

Product: The Customer payment predictions feature uses a machine learning model to more accurately predict when a customer will pay an outstanding invoice. This machine learning model includes historical invoices, payments, and customer data.

Methodology: Moderated usability study with a trust score aimed at measuring how users trust intelligent features in the workplace.

Results + Impact: With 2 of the 8 trust score items in the red zone (low score), areas of concerns for users regarding AI were discovered in addition to traditional feedback on the tool’s UX. AI Research documentation and UX improvement before general release of this feature in the USA, Europe and the U.K.

Heuristic Evaluation | Business Docs Management - Dynamics 365 Finance (Microsoft)

Product: Business document management is built on top of the ER framework and enables business users to edit business document templates by using Microsoft 365 service or appropriate Microsoft Office desktop application. Edits to the documents might include changing business document designs and adding placeholders for additional data without source code changes and new deployments.

Methodology: A heuristic evaluation using the company tenets & traps.

Results + Impact: Informed the product team of potential UX issues to address. These issues were later confirmed with a usability study. This functionality was worked on and improved before being released to the general public in 2020.

A/B Test | Vendor Invoice Automation - Dynamics 365 Finance (Microsoft)

Product: Dynamics 365 Finance offers a straight-through, touchless automated vendor invoice experience that will provide value to the accounts payable professionals by helping companies decrease the amount of time and cost to process vendor invoices and credit memos.

Methodology: Unmoderated A/B Testing with 6 Accounts Payable Professionals.

Results + Impact: The UX metrics clearly indicated which version of the prototype to build for best results. Overall, many of the detected usability issues were addressed as recommended and the improved experience was built and released to the general public in 2020.
